            Bug ID: 13830
Summary: Scilab Graphics uses libgl1-mesa-swx11, incompatible
                    with libgl1-mesa-glx
           Product: Scilab software
Version: YaSp GIT version (Scilab 6 dev.)
          Hardware: PC
                OS: Linux 32
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Blocker
          Priority: P5
         Component: Graphics
          Assignee: bugzilla.admin at scilab.org
          Reporter: lorenzo.seno at gmail.com

BUG DESCRIPTION:
----------------
In "regular" current Debian distributions and derivatives (like Ubuntu 12.04 32 Bit or Mint-Debian 32 Bit) it is installed libgl1-mesa-glx. Every
version of Scilab doesn't show any graphics (plot2d(0:10,0:10) doesn't show nothing into the graphic window) when this package is installed. This is
a well known problem, as you can verify googling around (f.i. http://www.equalis.com/forums/Posts.aspx?topic=321201).

Installing libgl1-mesa-swx11 do solve the problem, but synaptics removes at the same time libgl1-mesa-glx *and Skype*. In this way, Scilab becomes
incompatible with Skype, a typical daily usage application.
This has a workaround: installing Skype making use of the "Dynamic" tar, which has a self-contained application.

Removing libgl1-mesa-glx has nevertheless more bad side effects: it affects WebGL, so that f.i. Google Maps hangs-up keeping 100% of CPU and must be
killed.

I believe this is a very dangerous situation for Scilab in the future, because it cannot be used in regular OS configurations, being incompatible
with quite regular applications. I was forced to use Scilab into a specific Virtual Machine, which is not exactly like a charm.

ERROR LOG:
----------

Se above.

HOW TO REPRODUCE THE BUG:
-------------------------

Install libgl1-mesa-swx11 into any current Debian distribution. Scilab does shows graphics, but Skype is removed together with libgl1-mesa-glx.
Go to Google Maps using Firefox, Chrome or Chromium-browser, and you will get stuck with 100% CPU used by the Web Browser. Waiting some time,
Chromium will show a message about a problem with WenGL which crashed. Reinstalling libgl1-mesa-glx will restore the correct operation of WebGL, anc
Skype can be reinstalled, while Scilab stops to show graphics.

OTHER INFORMATION:
------------------

Tested on a Ubuntu 12.04 32 Bit distro in a physical machine, and in a current (as today, 18/04/2015) LinuxMint LMDE Cinnamon edition into a VMware
player. In this situation Google Maps is less prone to hung-up or crash, but CPU is 100% (vmware process).
