Results on my PC @ office:
Scilab 6.0.1:  0.0782.. s
Octave 4.2.1:  0.155.. s
Matlab R2016a: 0.013.. s

Vincent,
you may check the performance on your PC. I had recently a similar problem with the optim() function, reported as bug 15351.
But it was likely due to my antivirus. I am still saying "likely", because the processor and the memory were not saturated when i had this problem.
It might have been also due to the OS management of processor & memory under the AV activity..
