It is not a problem of computation time. 
With 6.0.0 I have been able to run scripts with very large datasets, that took hours - without graphics-. 
Nevertheless it is a major issue for Scilab! 
Because the best Scilab version is still the old 5.5.2, and for me there is no motivation to update our toolbox.
