BUG DESCRIPTION:
----------------

The "Recent files" menu is not updated when it should. For example, when a new file is opened, it will appear in the menu only after:

1-the file pane is closed
2-a new file is opened

in all cases the update is done too late. All other editors I know update this menu just after the file is opened.

HOW TO REPRODUCE THE BUG:
-------------------------

Before testing this the "Recent files" menu should be empty, otherwise it is not updated at all (see bug #7277).
