Relationship between subwin and axes

Hi,

What is the relationship between subwin and axes. This page (
http://wiki.scilab.org/The_Graphic_Hierarchy) says that "Direct children of
the figure can be only axes, uicontrol or uimenu". But when it try to
plot2d(1:10) it passes a subwin as a child of a figure and no axes object is
created at all.
