Out of the box, it is not possible.
However, if you are into Java, you can use the xlst java libs pretty
easily.

If you are interested in this, I can give you more pointers.

Obviously, it should not be the case. I tested with the 5.3.0 beta3 and
it does open the link. For example, with the links in the function
regexp.

Which version are you using ?

If it is the beta3, it could linked to this bug:

Ok, I just tested : it works in 5.3.0 b3 but not in 5.2.2 (I rather use
this version because the 5.3 is very unstable with TCL stuff).

Unfortunately I am not. I could also use saxon.jar and command line  
scripts, but this is platform dependent...

 I am here because I was trying to use giws. Its really a wonderfull idea ..
to call java from c++ .. I tried to compile the examples and I get the

where it has fields of the class mentioned.. Does that mean it cannot access

Yes, it is not possible. 
This is a choice because I believe that, most of the time, fields should
be accessed by getter/setter.
