Bug or feature : need a space between '(' and '&' in gui.po

Hi,

I translate menu items  '&File' to 'aChinese(&F)' and '&Edit'  to
'anotherChinese(&E)' and the left paranthesis '(' disappear in the  Java
console.

But if I add a blank space between '(' and '&', then the left paranthesis
show up without following blank space.

The attached PNG showing the correct result only if I insert extra space
between '(' and '&' in my Chinese  gui.po file.

Is it a bug or a feature ?
