Default directory

Hi list,

I am new to scilab.  I want to change the default working directory on my os x snow leopard.  The default address is HOME.  I set the .scilab file by adding disp("Sample message") and added the cd command to the file to change the directory.  When I start scilab, the sample message prints but the directory doesn't change.

How do I change the default directory?  Thanks
