Can Scilab be used as an automation/control and DAQ

I am very (very) new and want to understand some of the possible uses of
Scilab.

Can Scilab be implemented with data acquisition equipment (e.g. LabJack) and
log to an SQL database? 

Can Scilab access data from an SQL database to run math simulations? 

Can Scilab be used as a control/automation system, e.g. take in sensor
information, process data, send control commands (e.g. to a relay through
LabJack)?
