wget speed

Currently I am using unix(wget -O file.txt http://url.org) to download source
codes. However, the downloaded file can often times be several Mbs and take
several minutes to download. With the hopes of cutting this time down I have
two questions:

1) Is there a way to speed up wget?

2) Sometimes I only need the title of the webpage (or the first few lines of
the source code). Is there a way to specify how much many lines of the file
to download?
