compile problem "A Fortran or C compiler is required".

Hi

 

I installed Scilab 5.3.1 and had a look at the Xcos demos, in particular the
electrical systems demos. Scilab terminates with a compiling problem "A
Fortran or C compiler is required".

 

I do not have a c compiler installed on my PC. Which c compiler is required,
and how do I set it up so that Scilab recognizes it? Can anyone help me?
