"print" command

Is there any particular reason why 

print('fname',a,b,c,d) 

prints the values in the inverse order: d,c,b,a?
(v. 5.3.1 under XP)

This is frustrating.
Even more: a second attempt fails (file exists).
WHY?

Of course, there is plenty of writing conventions, etc. but why a SIMPLE
procedure doesn't behave in 
a simple way?
