web server requests - new features ?

hi,

i'm wondering if there is new features in scilab dealing with communication
with web servers? 
For scilab application on windows desktop up to now I'm using curl.exe to
send http requests to the server php script but since it was noticed in
previous messages in this list it is not mutliplatform and probably not as
fast as builtin functions would be : is there any undergoing development in
that way ?
