Install in Fedora

Hello,
First I would like to congratulate you for the amazing scilab software.
I'm currently using Fedora 17 and just downloaded and unpacked the latest scilab-5.3.3.bin.linux-x86_64.tar.gzI'm running scilab doing $ cd usr/bin/scilab-5.3.3/bin
$ ./scilab
Is there any more elegant way to do it? I mean:-> /usr/bin is the most recommended place to install it?-> Perheps creating one alias?-> How can I create an icon in the gnome desktop?
