Dear Sir,

I suppose you are under Mac OS X Lion. Unfortunately, Scilab 5.3.3 is not supported under Lion.
We suggest you use Scilab 5.4.0 alpha 1 instead (http://www.scilab.org/products/scilab/download/alpha).
