You could do something like:

-->p=poly([24 -50 35 -10 1],'x','coeff')
 p  =

                  2     3   4
    24 - 50x + 35x - 10x + x

-->roots(p)
 ans  =

    4.
    3.
    2.
    1.

HTH,
Mike.

Subject: [scilab-Users] Question about Scilab

To whom it concerns,
I am entirely new to SCILAB and I would like to know if it is possible to
solve a quartic equation of an unknown.
I do know the coefficients of the different powers of the above quoted
unknown.
Thanks
