[Scilab-users] Scilab not starting on Ubuntu 12.04

Greetings,

I have been using Scilab on Ubuntu 12.04 for about a year.  Everything
always worked fine.
But today I am not able to start Scilab. I simply click on the icon and
nothing happens. I do not get any error messages. The program simply does
not start.

I have tried to reinstall Scilab but with no effect.

Any help much appreciated.
