Call_scilab compilation error

Hello,
I have tried to use call_scilab, as described in this tutorial
http://help.scilab.org/docs/5.4.0-beta-1/en_US/compile_and_run_call_scilab.html
, but I can't seem to compile the example.
I keep getting the following error:

Undefined symbols:
  "_StartScilab", referenced from:
      _main in cc7e4T3S.o
  "_SendScilabJob", referenced from:
      _main in cc7e4T3S.o
      _main in cc7e4T3S.o
      _main in cc7e4T3S.o
  "_TerminateScilab", referenced from:
      _main in cc7e4T3S.o
ld: symbol(s) not found
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [all] Error 1

I used the makefile given in the example (for binary). Any ideas?
