On this URL, you can read:
"More "real-life" benchmarks show no clear winner [between Swing & SWT],
and showed that the results greatly depend on the context and the
environments[11]."

But if someone wants to create a SWT GUI of Scilab, he is most welcome
(and most of the GUI code has been rewritten this the possibility to
change of GUI API quite easily).
