How should I restore the display of graphics UBUNTU 11.10

I have been a user of SCILAB, On UBUNTU 11.10.

Recently, I updated my system from the Ubuntu website using their synaptic
package manager. Some packages in SCILAB were among those added.

I have now found that even though SCILAB works, it does not display any any
graphic image using the plot, bar and similar commands.

What should I do to restore the full operation.
